At the turn of the 21st century, the artist was photographing abandoned and run-down areas near the town of Września. The pictures, filled with traces of human presence, make up a series referred to metaphorically by the artist as Sedimentation. The term comes from a dictionary of geology terms and refers to the deposition or accumulation on the surface of the earth of matter carried by water, glacier, wind, dissolved or suspended in water.
The exhibitions include: Sedimentation, Galeria Zderzak, Cracow (2004).
The major publications include his monograph entitled Ireneusz Zjeżdżałka. Photographs (Kropka, 2009) and the Sedimentation album (Galeria Zderzak, 2004).
