The Vilnius landscapes represent a highly appreciated part of Bułhak`s monumental body of works depicting Poland, which he worked on for many years. His Vilnius photographs, which are pictorialist impressions rather than a documentary record, are rich in depictions of architecture, architectural details, sculptures, gateways, etc. The work presented here is a fine example of this kind of photography. Architecture seems to be a mere backdrop for the impressive trees and plants around it, which apparently fascinated the artist.
