Professional photographer from Cracow. He started his education at J. Mien`s and J. Sebald`s photographic studios. For seven years, he learned in various photographic ateliers in Europe, including Paris and Vienna, and worked for A. Wollenveider in Algiers. In 1907, Kuczyński opened an artistic photography studio in the Spiski House on Cracow`s Main Market Square. His studio was extremely popular among Cracow residents, notably artists. It was frequented by Jacek Malczewski, Jan Szczepkowski and Xawery Dunikowski, who were all Kuczyński`s friends. He photographed them, and they made his portraits (Malczewski painted him, while Dunikowski made his bust). He is distinguished by his impeccable composition and painting-like chiaroscuro effects. His portraits are also insightful psychological studies. The acclaim Kuczyński`s work achieved in the interwar period translated into a number of exhibitions, e.g. in Geneva and Zurich (1921), Poznań (1923), New York (1931). The 20th Exhibition of the Polish Photographic Society in Warsaw (1930) was dedicated exclusively to his photographic work.
