Grzelewska has worked on her Julia wannabe series, which is about her daughter`s adolescence, since 2006. She is interested in the moment when a girl becomes a woman. However, the story is not merely a documentary record of events in Julia`s life. Nor is it a memoir or family album, but rather an attempt to capture a universal truth about adolescence. It is also a photographic reinterpretation of the psychological process of ‘transference` - the photographic image is a combined result of Julia`s experience and the artist`s own memories.
The work has been exhibited at solo shows Julia wannabe: Galerie Žlutá Ponorka, Znojmo, Czech Republic (2013); Muzeum Umění Olomouc, Olomouc, Czech Republic (2013); Festival of Photography, Opole (2013), and at many group exhibitions.
For the Julia wannabe series Grzelewska was shortlisted in: International Photographic Competition Frame (2011), Hyères 2014 / 29e Festival International De Mode & De Photographie oraz Grand Prix Fotofestiwal (2015).
