According to Paracelsus, the titular Iliaster is the first concrete materialisation of which the Universe will be formed. But for Noniewicz it is "a materialisation of the photographic reality which can be produced by using the old cyanotype technique." The artist uses pieces of organic matter that he finds, such as dried plants, fruits, bird feathers, or dead insects, and reproduces them by photographic means using partly solarised blown-up photograms. Another key technique used by the artist in his works is x-ray photography. As Noniewicz believes, this and similar practices add transcendence to his art.
