This work represents a less well-known episode in Lewczyński`s work, when the doyen of Polish photography explored colour photography. Yet, it also reveals some characteristic and unique features of his oeuvre, i.e. Lewczyński`s interest in man as seen in the context of the surroundings.
The photograph was presented at Lewczyński`s much celebrated retrospective show entitled Archaeology of Photography 1941-2005, held at the Museum of Art in Łódź (April/May 2005), Stary Browar Gallery in Poznań (May/June 2005), National Museum in Wrocław (September/October 2005), Museum of the History of Photography in Kraków (January/February 2006), BWA Gallery and Pusta Gallery in Katowice (March/April 2006) and reproduced in his monograph entitled Jerzy Lewczyński. Archeologia fotografii (Kropka, 2005), which accompanied the exhibition.
