Even though Sempoliński is best known for his photographs documenting the city - especially Warsaw in the pre-war period and its ruins after the war in 1945, he also experimented with other types of photography. His portfolio of landscapes is rich in images that are artistic studies of forms, often inclining towards abstraction. This work is an example of the part of his art that is deeply rooted in the pictorialist tradition - with soft lights and delicate tonal gradients.
