When commenting on her output, Pirotte admitted that she is most keen on photographing young people, especially children. As Teresa Śmiechowska, the curator of Pirrote`s retrospective (Faces and Hands, Jewish Historical Institute, Warsaw, 2012), says, "(...) her photography arises from sacrifice, commitment, and is a mission rather than just an extraordinary skill. Most of the people she portrayed look straight into the lens - it can be clearly seen that the artist was struggling with her commitment. Pirotte can be ranked as a heroic photographer, for whom the face of another person means much more than the face we see". The featured photographs were taken in the early 1954 in Zakopane.
