Personal photographer of John Paul II. Author of numerous albums dedicated to the Pope. He has taken approx. one million photos of the Polish pontiff. He worked as the photographer of popes for 51 years. His first pontificate was that of Pius XII, then, working for L`Osservatore Romano, he photographed John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II and Benedict XVI. Arturo Mari accompanied John Paul II until his last moments, taking the last photo on the day of his funeral. His memoirs were written down by Jarosław Mikołajewski of Gazeta Wyborcza in the book Farewell - Till We Meet in Paradise.
