The photograph dates back to a period when, after the "soft-light" period, Hartwig started to engage in bold experiments. He gave his works a graphic-like look and experimented, for instance, with photomontage, as is the case here. At the time, he published his famous book Fotografika (Arkady, 1960, ed. II 1963), in which he proposed a new photographic style.
