He lived in Warsaw until the end of the Warsaw Uprising. In 1945, he moved to Krakow, where he studied at the Faculty of Art History of the Jagiellonian University. He took an interest in photography and film since his earliest years. He worked as a photographer for Tygodnik Powszechny. When he was 23 years old (in 1958), he was accepted as a member of the Krakow Group. He took part in the 2nd and 3rd Modern Art Exhibition in Warsaw in 1957 and 1959, among other exhibitions. He has been living in Lund, Sweden since 1967. In 2008, a monographic exhibition by the artist was held at the Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, particularly displaying the surrealist thread of his work.
