Gęsicka made her Traces series using stock photos. She treats photographs as traces of human existence, situations, moments. For her, family scenes, holiday memories, and everyday life in the photographs are suspended somewhere between truth and fiction. Modified in a variety of ways, the images acquire new meanings, while the memories of people and situations are subject to transformations and are gradually erased.
