The artist started the Topolgies series in 1966 and kept working on it until the 1980s when his works started to turn into self-quotes. As Piotr Krakowski commented about Lachowicz`s work when the series was presented in the Starmach Gallery in 1992, "the conceptual value of the series lies in the fact that even though the works are photographs, one is unable to identify any objects that could potentially underlie the images. The art is fully born in the artist`s mind, yet it is not abstract, but mental, it does not aim towards the unreal, but rather broadens our consciousness."
