The group members are: Marek Janiak, Andrzej Kwietniewski, Adam Repecki, Andrzej Swietlik and Makary (Andrzej Wielogorski). Created in 1979 in the climate of scandal, as a neo avant-garde formation which aimed to study the aspect of vision and registering of a photomedia character, deriving from the tradition of conceptualism, mainly in the field of photography, experimental films, and performance. In 1980-81 the group changed its artistic programme for a much more dadaistic and surrealistic one (more happening and anarchistic), attacking and ridiculing the Polish formation of neo avant-garde and showing the absurd of life in the Polish People’s Republic. During this time, Kwietniewski and Janiak wrote many manifestos, including the one important for the 1990s, entitled ‘A Ridiculous Art’ by Janiak. From the mid-1990s, thanks to tv productions (trilogy entitled ‘I remember, I remember, I remember...), Lodz Kaliska became part of the establishment of mass media and politics. However, all their artistic activities, including them and their muses (models), became and element and object for an ever enduring fun with a hedonistic message.
