In 1953 he studied photography at the High School for Visual Arts in Gdynia Orlowo under the guidance of professor E. Zdanowski. Between 1958 and 1961 he studied at the College of Education’s Drawing and Manual Arts department in Gdansk. In 1961, he started his studies at the Fine Arts Department of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, where he became the co-founder of the photographic group ZERO 61. He completed his diploma in 1965. Since 1966, he belonged to the Polish association of photographers, ZPAF. In 1966, he was awarded the 1st degree prize from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and he won the silver medal in the national competition entitled 500 years of Peace of Torun. In 1968, he won the Grand Prix at the Golden Amber competition in Sopot. In 1970, he was named the AFIAP’s Photographer. In 1979, he was named a Merited Culture Actor. During 1980-1987, he took part in Torun’s photographic outdoor settings, receiving the 1st prize four times. In 1988, he received the medal celebrating the 40 years of ZPAF’s activities. From 1986 to 2001, his works were presented during a retrospective exhibition of the ZERO 61 group in Torun, Katowice, and Bydgoszcz. In 2000, he was the participant in the 2nd Biennale of the Photography in Poznan and the exhibition ‘Grey in Color’ in the Warsaw’s Zacheta. In 2004, his works were presented during the International Festival of Photography in Lodz, and in 2006 as a part of the ‘Photopictures’ exposition. The Fine Art Gesture in Photography at the Museum of Art in Lodz.
