The images in the Stones series, including this one, were created by assembling sixteen shots of a single stone, thus making it difficult for the viewer to comprehend its scale or depth. Orski investigates the relation between the eye, the camera, and the surface of the image. He draws the viewer’s attention to the photograph itself, which is usually perceived as a transparent medium. Orski further distorts perception by toying with the properties of the matter: the photographed stones covered with a layer of olive oil resemble soft and moist pieces of meat.
