Szlaga has photographed the Gdańsk Shipyard for 17 years, documenting, by means of photography and video, its ever changing post-industrial landscape, rich in traces and history. The gradually demolished architecture survives in his pictures, the number of which grows from year to year despite the many exhibitions and publications following each successive stage of his work.
This photograph is reproduced on the cover of the artist’s book Stocznia Szlaga (Fundacja Karrenwall, 2013). The artist describes the publication briefly as "a book about architecture", adding that he needs "to produce another one about the people, and yet another one about the Solidarity Movement."
Major exhibitions: Gdańsk Shipyard, Transphotographiques Nord, La Maison de la Photographie, Lille (2011), Contenedores de Arte, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (2011), Galeria PiTiPa, Gdańsk (2011); Shipyard, Galeria w Lesie, Warsaw (2015).
