Maciejewski studied photography at ZPAF courses (1983) and in the Higher School of Photography in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia (1984). In 1985, he immigrated to Canada, where he has lived and worked ever since. He works with large format analogue cameras and employs digital techniques or uses a self-made camera obscura, built specifically for the Weather Report project. He teaches photography at the Haliburton School of Arts, Ontario, Canada. In the 1990s, Maciejewski worked for the Lenscape Inc. studio, specialising in commercial architecture and architectural model photography. He has published three books: Bread (1996), Toronto Parks (1997) and After Notman (2003). His works have been exhibited in Canada, the USA, Poland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Finland and Uganda. They have been sold to a number of private and public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa), McCord Museum of Canadian History (Montreal), Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte (Dortmund) and Preus Museum (Horten, Norway).

The work comes from the Garden of Eden series, consisting of still lifes resembling old masters` painting and composed of vegetables and fruits from a supermarket, with stickers on them or wrapped in plastic.
