Hartwig`s landscapes took different forms, depending on the period when they were created. This work, which is quite abstract in form, dates back to his later period, when Hartwig clearly departed from depicting landscape in a traditional way. The artist himself stressed the originality of his experiments: "It was a breakthrough in the Bułhak-like photography - losing the half-tones, seeking the overall impression, just as in graphic arts…".
