Hartwig had this well-known work reproduced in his famous Fotografika - commonly considered to be the most important Polish photographic album until the late 1970s. With its high contrast, the photograph takes on a graphic form, typical of the artist’s style at the time. It is an example of modern formalism, which was free from any patriotic overtones and in which visual expression prevailed over content.
