Between 1978 and practically until the end of her artistic career, Zofia Rydet was working on her opus magnum - The Sociological Record. Consisting of several thousand negatives, the series is a monumental record of humanity and society. It was made by Rydet working on her own in more than ten regions across Poland and other places, including Douchy in France and the New York City. Currently, the body of works is being catalogued by the Zofia Rydet Foundation in partnership with Fundacja Sztuk Wizualnych, Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and Czytelnia Sztuki in Gliwice.
Field research carried out by the Zofia Rydet Foundation has confirmed that this picture was taken in the area of Rzeszów, in Markowa, in 1982, and depicts a married couple, Zofia and Józef Homa.
The series has been shown at many solo and group shows, including Sociological Record 1978-1990, Starmach Gallery, Cracow (2008); Zofia Rydet. Sociological Record 1978-1990, Czytelnia Sztuki, Gliwice (2012); The Record, Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw (2015).
