The photographs depict workers of the Ostrowiec Świętokrzystki steel works, which does not exist any longer. They are part of a greater body of works entitled People of the Steelworks, which includes group portraits of workers both at work and at home, during leisure and relaxation. In 1974, the photographs premièred in the album Industry of the Kielce Region and were shown at the exhibition with the same title. Later, the photographs were being exhibited as part of the Workers` Family project, which was initiated in 1976 by the Świętokrzyskie Branch of ZPAF. The project involved a series of 20 photographic exhibitions (1978-1982), notably The Steelworks - Home - Family, which depicted a moment in the history of the industrial city of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.
