In the publication Awareness of the Frame. Comments on the Aesthetics of Photography (Kropka, 2003), Tomaszczuk claims that one asset which photography has as an autonomous discipline is the "photographic frame, which creates an independent reality, taken out of the context of the surroundings." Tomaszczuk’s sensitivity to the potential and capacity of the medium is also reflected in his art, in which he often plays games with the image, as in this triptych.
