ca. 2000
inkjet print, 29 x 42.1 cm,
signed and artist`s stamp on the reverse
The photograph, which may appear to be merely a record of a dirty joke, is representative of Lewczyński`s artistic search. The artist was always interested in the written word, which he would document on a regular basis, whether he found it on city posters, in official notices, memos or notebooks. Lewczyński`s intention was to stress its importance and power.
The place where the photograph was taken is not accidental. He would often visit Rachanie, where his father had been the village administrator in the 1940s and where the artist himself had worked
in his early youth.
