Polish Bus Stops

2012-2014/2015
lightbox, solvent print (Roland SJ 745 EX),
low-energy lighting (led technology) - power ca. 10W, 80 x 120 cm,
signed, dated and described on the reverse,
edition: 1/5 + 2 a.p.

The work depicts bus stops found in the Polish province. Rawluk is not interested in city bus stops, claiming that "they do not form such strong links with people as those in suburban and rural areas. Bus stops are not merely temporary shelters. In smaller towns, they are often the only substitutes for public space."
Exhibitions: Polish Bus Stops. A Typology or Grassroots Design of the Fixed Point Infrastructure Element of Public Transport System, Kordegarda, Warsaw (2012); Místa čekání a odpočinku, Galerie Sam83, Česká Bříza, Czech Republic (2014).
The Polish Bus Stops series was published as a book under the title Polish Bus Stops. Grassroots Design of the Fixed Point Infrastructure Element of Public Transport System (Fundacja Bęc Zmiana, Narodowe Centrum Kultury, 2012). The book is attached to the featured photograph as a bonus item.
