Being part of a large portfolio entitled the Family Album, the photograph shows Pierściński’s brother. The artist took it shortly before a family reunion held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his parents’ wedding. For the artist, the empty plates symbolise the difficult times of crisis and shortages of food products on the market.
