In his comment on Zbigniew Tomaszczuk’s exhibition Images I Remember from the Past (Mała Galeria ZPAF-CCA, Warsaw, 1999), Marek Grygiel describes the artist as being on a permanent "search for answers to the questions that come up in the area where the different image taking and reproduction methods interact with one another." The work presented here is an example of such "photographic performances" by Tomaszczuk, who, as Grygiel writes, "asks whether documentary photographs depicting reality are actually what they are meant to be, and whether our previous trust in the objectivity of the photographic or electronic image is sustainable."
