As Wojciech Nowicki observes (Jerzy Lewczyński. Memory of the Image, Museum in Gliwice, 2012), "Schlab’s photograms are actually graphic works, but made using photographic techniques." The featured work comes from the best-known and most characteristic chapter in the artist’s career. The blow-ups made without the use of a camera, from negatives which were intentionally damaged, splashed with liquid, scratched, painted over etc. won Schlabs fame all over the world.
