The work dates back to 1960, when Schlabs participated in The Sense of Abstraction in Contemporary Photography exhibition in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His photographs were presented next to the works of such esteemed artists as Man Ray and László Moholy-Nagy. In the same year, his works were bought for the MoMA collection.
