The photograph presented here is one of the most recognisable works by Bronisław Schlabs. His Photograms, made at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s, are surreal works escaping traditional thinking about photography. They were produced by direct interference with the light-sensitive surface. The artist used it to indulge in a variety of experiments by cutting and painting negatives or sticking different materials to them.
His Photograms can be found in many important collections, e.g. the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
