"I have filled all my photographic works, texts and poems with constructs taken from the landscape: the rhythm of the multiplied fields, the perspective of wavy hills, the mood, experience and emotions." - this is how Pierściński, fascinated with the geometrical forms of the land - often reworked by the artist beyond mere document - describes his photographs. Pierściński has been committed to formal experiments, creating a series of photomontages, in which he re-arranged the cut-out elements of the landscape into various patterns.
The work presented here invokes the tradition of Polish coffin portrait. Aware of the slow vanishing of the characteristic fragmented and patchwork-like landscape, the artist himself referred to
the photograph as a "coffin portrait of the Kielce landscape."
The photograph has been widely exhibited and reproduced.
