In her Patterns the artist develops her own variations of existing designs taken from different epochs, traditions and cultures. She makes her own version of them, using motifs known from her previous works. She uses the textile patterns of William Morris (1834-1896), meticulous stylistics of Arab ornamentation, batik clothing patterns, and Chinese floral decorations. She reconstructs the rhythmic patterns using motifs taken from her own rich archive of photographs featuring the artist Zbigniew Libera as the model.
