Most probably this symbolic photograph comes from the Weeds of War series, which depicts Poland as a land devastated by war but recovering at a fast pace. The artist took this highly metaphoric image, full of historic undertones, just before emigrating to the United States. Kosiński about his photography: "(...) I began with nudes because I was interested in the architecture of the body and in architecture, I was interested in the landscape of war. On the one hand, the body as a source of life, and on the other, a series of ruins (...)."
