Mikołaj Smoczyński focused on studying issues related to places, surfaces and spaces. His photographic works presenting isolated and separated fragments of reality - pieces of a wall, a concrete floor or falling plaster - in a painterly manner focus on the aesthetics of raw materials.
His photographs from the Objects in Space series were presented with others at the What Can an Outsider Tell Us about Reality? exhibition in the CCA Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw (2013). The featured work was also reproduced in the catalogue of the exhibition.
