Zieliński often experiments with traditional photographic techniques, e.g. by reprinting the same photograph in a variety of ways. The successive effects give the image a new dimension. Zieliński made the work presented here using one of the earliest noble photographic techniques - gum bichromate. Given its tendency to lose image detail, gum bichromate is sometimes also referred to as an effect technique.
