This photograph comes from the Warsaw series, which Pustoła completed in 2004. He photographed the city with a wooden Japanese box camera. Despite the interesting artistic effect he achieved by using the technique, aesthetics is of secondary importance here. His images are not mere sentimental landscapes. They are a conscious analysis of an ever changing city. As Pustoła explains, "modern cities are like an elaborate mosaic consisting of an endless number of patterns, colours and textures. They are formed by centuries-old layers of collective and individual stories...".
Exhibitions of the series: Lumo 04, Photographic Triennial, Jyvaskyla, Finland (2004); Small Gallery ZPAF-CCA, Warsaw (2005); KULTURJAHR der ZEHN, Berlin, Germany (2005).
