The presented photograph is a part of Marta Deskur’s large project, the most important element of which was a documentary-narrative film. Its main heroine is Manju Pavadai whom the author met while traveling to India. Marta and Manju met in a library in Auroville, a place created as an urban utopia which was to encompass both the modernist drive of the Western world and the spiritual aspect of the complex culture of the Indian subcontinent. During their second meeting, Manju asked Marta to take her to Poland. The topics of Deskur’s art are closeness and relations, both family relations and spiritual ones. The artist studies various kinds of close relationships, for example: mother and child, siblings, friends, lovers.
