Zofia Rydet started working on the World of Feelings and Imagination series in the 1960s. The body of work was presented in the form of a diaporama and reproduced in 1979 as an album, with a foreword by Urszula Czartoryska. It consists of 70 photographs making up 15 series of poetic photomontages with a powerful emotional effect. As Rydet said, "my World of Feelings and Imagination depicts humans in the precarious state which already exists from the moment of their birth, their obsessions, their feelings, loneliness, desires and anxiety, for which there is no salvation but through love. It is a story about the tragedy of passing, fear of annihilation and destruction".
The series has been shown at many individual and group exhibitions, notably Zofia Rydet. Fotografie, Museum of Art, Łódź (1999), National Museum in Wrocław (2000); Zofia Rydet: The First Lady of Polish Photography, Fotogalerie Kistemaker, Oldenzaal, the Netherlands (2007); Zofia Rydet.
