Even though Dorys is best known as a portraitist, his photographs depicting the pre-war life in Kazimierz nad Wisłą, produced in the years 1931-1932, are equally important - also for the history of Polish photography. The series is considered to be the first Polish photographic document. Dorys made the photograph presented here upon returning to Kazimierz at a time when the photographic series in question was going on show for the first time - thirty years after its creation.
