Street scenes, like the one presented here, taken by Kosiński just before he left Poland, is a frequent theme in Kosiński`s work. When photographing the city Kosiński showed it the way it was, often with the street poverty, which caused his works to verge on humanist photography and even critical photography, the latter being a response to social realism.
Another print of the same photograph is owned by the National Museum in Warsaw, where it was exhibited in 2006 and published in the exhibition album entitled Jerzy Kosiński. Photographs.
