gelatin silver print, RC paper, 45 x 59.8 cm,
signed "Zygmunt Rytka," "Z. Rytka," dated, Polish and English titles, and artist’s index finger print on the reverse
In his Impermanent Objects series, Rytka analyses the notions of permanence and impermanence, and the different forms they can take. The shadow the artist casts is impermanent in reality, but photography allows it to be immortalised. In this work, Rytka uses the motif of a river stone, which appears in many of his best known photographs. The Impermanent Objects series was produced in the years 1989-1991.
