Pioneer of performance art in Poland; sculptor, painter, stage designer. He graduated from the Painting Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1971, he started to stage his performances and happenings, often capturing them in photographs. Since 1981, he has lived in New York, where for years he collaborated with The Rivington School movement of performance artists. Zarębski is also interested in the passing of time and the limitations of his own body. The work presents frames of Zarębski`s 16 mm black-and-white film entitled Hey, Boys!, which premiered at the Art New Media Gallery in Warsaw (2009). The first American screening took place in the CREON Gallery in New York (2012). The pictures have been shown at the following exhibitions: VOLTA NY, New York (2009); The Flying Carpet, Galerie Roi Dore, Paris (2012).
