Heliography, the graphic technique used in this work, was widely explored by Hiller. His method involved painting abstract compositions on glass plates or celluloid film. The resulting negative material was contact-printed on paper, with the reproductions showing a diversified play of light and shadow. The catalogue titled Karol Hiller 1891-1939. New Vision reads as follows: "The visual convention of this composition brings to mind the artist`s numbered paintings from 1932-1934, with the circular and radiating motifs subtly reminiscent of the structure of the universe."
