2012
postcard with embroidery, 10.6 x 14.8 cm,
signed "Monika Drożyńska" and dated on the reverse
unique object
The work comes from a series of old postcards enriched with Drożyńska’s embroidery. Each postcard was sent to the addressee, but as the post stamp indicates, not always from the place where it was bought. The embroidery in the picture corresponds to the route between the place where the postcard originated, the town in which it was posted, and the addressee’s town. As the artist explains, by using this gesture she is creating a "story about the perfection and imperfections of memory."
Exhibition: A Trip, Witches’ Tower, Ustka Branch of the Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art in Słupsk.
Twenty two works from the series are in the collection of Hotel Europejski in Warsaw.
