The series Interior with an Imprisoned One consists of Andryszkiewicz’s photographic montages made in 1979-1983. As a starting point for creating nearly every work, the artist chooses a face that has fascinated her with the expression or the feel. She believes that, over the centuries, the timeless truth about humans has been embodied by portrait painting, which she herself is inspired by in her art. Using photomontage, she tries to reconstruct the surroundings in which the individual persons could potentially exist.
