From the Blue series

2008/2012
platinum-palladium print, Arches Platine 320 g, 50 x 70 cm (70 x 90 cm),

edition: 1/7 + 2 a.p.

Niewiadomski has continued his Blue series since 2003, adding more and more new pieces. Currently, it is the most important of Niewiadomski`s sets, being an account of his life experience, travels to different countries of the world, encounters with people, and an expression of his sense of freedom from contact with nature. The blue in the title refers both to the sea, which is present in each photo in the set, and the mood of sadness and longing for an open space and freedom.
Niewiadomski used the platinum-palladium print-making technique to produce the work, which is a very labour-intensive and complex process. Top-quality archival paper is brushed with a light-sensitive substance made of a base metal like palladium or platinum. The characteristic features of the technique include fine quality and longevity, subtle tonal gradients and uniqueness.
Exhibition of the series: Galeria DAP, Warsaw (2012); Manggha Museum of Arts and Technology, Cracow (2013).
Publication: exhibition catalogue.
