In 1988, the Łódź Kaliska Group opened a new period in its artistic activity by making a series of pastiches of well-known paintings, Freiheit, nein danke being the first one. The fascination with Dadaism, which was the first art movement to manifest freedom so strongly, opened up a new area of artistic activity for Łódź Kaliska in its discourse with the history of art. The photographic records made by Łódź Kaliska, often videotaped too, took the form of photographic performances involving the Group members and their muses. Some photographs, like Freiheit..., were blown up to a size of several metres and used as a base for painting.
