One of the most talented disciples of Jan Bułhak. Member of ZPAF (from 1947), the National Geographic Society and honorary fellow of the Danish Photographers` Club. Winner of numerous prizes and distinctions, including the Knight`s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restitua. He made his debut at Salon International d`Art Photographique in Paris (1931) and participated in its later editions. His works were reproduced by Polish and foreign photographic magazines. In 1937, he started to work at Stanisław Sheybal`s photographic studio in Krzemieniec. At the time, he published The Beautiful Home Town of Juliusz Słowacki, a book illustrated with photographs printed on special, thin paper, produced specifically by the Alfa paper mill in Bydgoszcz, owned by M. Dziatkiewicz. In 1945, he settled in Cracow, where he created one of the most compelling photographic portraits of the city entitled Cracow - the Four Seasons. Hermanowicz is a much praised Polish landscapist and an author of many albums, including: W krainie skał i zamków (1963), Dolina Prądnika (1968), Ziemia Żywiecka (1982), Tatry (1988).
