Helena Hartwig was the portraitist of her husband who photographed him most frequently. Usually, she made typical studio portraits, but also portrayed him at work, as is the case here. The couple shared a passion for photography and ran a photographic studio together in Warsaw, even though each of them followed their own artistic path. Helena was sensitive to people’s looks, and was often praised by customers for the way she set up her portraits.
