These photographs come from the Sociological Record series, which is considered to be Rydet’s magnum opus. The person portrayed is Karol Skorus from the village of Chochołów, who put a collection of things he had amassed on display in his own home as a "private museum." At the time when the photograph was taken, his entire family was living in America, which is reflected in some of the items in the pictures, e.g. an impressive collection of portraits of American presidents.
